Do you know what the 4 regions of Texas are? We have been studying the Coastal Plains Region all week! Since we have the coastal region it has been very fitting due to the current weather conditions. We have focused a lot on hurricane Ike. It will strike Galveston and Houston around midnight tonight. We learned how dangerous hurricanes can be. The hurricane is affecting the ports in Houston, which will cause oil and gas prices to go UP! We are all a little nervous about the
devastating damage that this storm may cause. How do you guys feel about the hurricane? Do you have family in that area that has had to evacuate? Miss Bontrager's family had to evacuate last night. They may not be able to go home for several weeks, due to power outages. Her mom is a 4th grade teacher in the Houston area. They have not had school the past 2 days and may not for a couple of weeks! How would y'all feel about not having school because of bad weather? We look forward to hearing back from you!
From Miss Bontrager's Class!
Happy Friday!

We also have learned a lot about the four regions of Texas. We learned a little about the Coastal Plains, Central Plains, Great Plains, and Mountains and Basins.
We, too, have some family members that have had to evacuate.
We thought it would be fun to miss so much school until Mrs. Braymer told us that they might have to make up that time in the summer. Now, we don't think it's so much fun.
Thanks for posting your blog. We look forward to hearing about your week next time.
Bye!
Love, Mrs. Braymer's Class
How is your family that lives in Houston?
Is everyone okay?
Are they back at school yet?
My family is okay. They just got power yesterday (9/22). They were without power for 10 days! They get to go back to school tomorrow. They have a lot of catching up to do when they get back to school. The state has to decide if they have to make the days up in June. Sometimes the state gives waivers. We shall see! Thank you all for asking!
